Australian Fashion Week 2011 Wrap Up

This year I was incredibly fortunate to be asked by the lovely girls of Oyster Magazine to shoot backstage at Australian Fashion week. Given the freedom to shoot (pretty much) what, who and how I wanted, I was easily the envy of every other photographer that had a brief to work to over the week.

Click through for a quick wrap up of the week.

First things first…

The Shows (Click on the image or link to see all the shots)

Romance was Born.

Karla Spetic

Lover

Kate Sylvester

Fernando Frisoni

Camilla & Marc

Dion Lee

Josh Goot

Stolen Girlfriends Club

My picks…

Favourite show of the week.

This was a close one. A few shows had great pieces, terrible show and visa versa. Lover was the one that really knocked everything out of the park. Showed in ‘The Studio’ in Sydney’s Opera House, the pieces were great, venue and show we all done perfectly.

Honourable mentions go to Dion Lee, Romance was Born and Camilla & Marc.

Favourite Producer/Director.

Mark Vassallo. Talk about getting the job done. Love him or hate him, he definitely doesn’t give a fuck. The aim is simple, produce a great show with no hiccups and do your job right. Get in his way, and you’ll be brutally reprimanded, but chances are you were doing something wrong in the first place.

Honourable mentions go to: Mariella Everett & Holly Golightly

Favourite Photographer

It’s hard to really pick this one without a proper explanation. The week is hustle and bustle backstage, faces of other lads become far too familiar and everyone is shooting to brief. This means creativity is unfortunately stripped and in place flash, pap style pics for gloss mags take place. This award goes to the hardest worker, the young man who is polite (enough), get’s everything done and has a little fun on the way. Cake goes to Rene Vaile.

Honorable mentions go to; Alex Singh & Dean Podmore.

Favourite Model

Anja Konstantinova. Name another girl who at around 5 foot flat can out walk most of the other girls every show, is actually nice and has a banger look. Didn’t think you could.

Honourable mentions go to; Ruby Jean & That one girl I wanted to marry, but never got her name.

It’s a wrap. x
